Description
A block of four 20-cent commemorative stamps featuring the energy theme of the 1982 Knoxville World's Fair was issued April 29, 1982, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The First Day of Issue ceremony was held at the US Pavilion on the fair grounds.
Artist Charles Harper of Cincinnati, Ohio, developed the energy theme by graphically depicting four energy sources. The designs emphasize the importance of solar power, fossil fuel energy, nuclear energy, and synthetic fuel energy.
The modeler of the stamp was Clarence Holbert. It was printed in the photogravure process, with fifty stamps per pane.
