Description
An Olympic gold medal with attached ribbon. The medal is molded with figures in relief on the obverse and reverse. The obverse side features a seated woman, representing Lady Victory, dressed in a flowing robe and holding a palm frond in her left hand and a winner's crown of leaves above her head. To her left the words [XXVI / OLYMPIAD / ATLANTA 1996] appear in relief. The five interlocking Olympic rings appear between [OLYMPIAD] and [ATLANTA]. The reverse features a running human figure at the bottom of the disc, with leaf patterns extending up and curving around the medal. Above the figure is the official torch emblem of the 1996 Summery Olympics, below which reads [100 / Atlanta 1996]. Type circling the medal's border reads [CENTENNIAL OLYMPIC GAMES]. Etched into the rim of the medal are the words [MEN'S LONG JUMP]. A bar extends out of the top of the medal, through which the ribbon has been looped. The ribbon is dark green, trimmed with gold and decorated with a leaf pattern. Embroidered at the top of the ribbon are the words [Atlanta 1996] and the Olympic torch emblem.
