The National Postal Museum’s new virtual exhibition, “Celebrating Hispanic Heritage: People, Places and Events on Stamps,” is now available for viewing on the museum’s website.

The exhibition showcases the diversity and cultural significance of Hispanic communities in the United States through the medium of postage stamps. It features every U.S. Postal Service-issued stamp commemorating Hispanic communities’ contributions to American culture, including this year’s latest “Art of the Skateboard” and “Piñatas!” stamps. Detailed descriptions give insights into the rich cultural traditions of these celebrated communities.

“We are thrilled to share this new virtual exhibition with the public during Hispanic Heritage Month,” said Daniel Piazza, chief curator of the National Postal Museum. “We hope that visitors to this virtual exhibition come away with an appreciation for the diverse experiences of these communities in the United States.”

Hispanics are the second largest and fastest-growing ethnicity in the United States, with a long and complex heritage dating back to the earliest days of European exploration. The experiences of Hispanic Americans have been shaped by political and economic factors, including outbreaks of violence against them and discriminatory government policies. Despite these challenges, Hispanic Americans have formed strong communities in the United States and enrich American society in areas such as science, technology, the arts and more.
