Smithsonian Associates will present an exclusive live-streamed event with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright Tuesday, June 2, at 6:30 p.m. The program is part of Smithsonian Associates Streaming, a new online learning initiative presenting expert-led lectures and courses, virtual tours and studio arts classes.

Albright draws on her new book Hell and Other Destinations: A 21st Century Memoir to trace how she made the transition from Foggy Bottom into her current life. While the former U.S. Secretary of State no longer jets off to foreign capitals as the country’s architect of foreign policy, she is still in constant motion writing, teaching, starting a business and spending time with grandchildren. Albright does not want to be “remembered” because she’s still here and has much more to do. In a lively and frank interview with Bob Barnett, author representative and partner at Williams and Connolly LLP law firm, participants can learn what that might look like for someone who wants “every stage of my life to be more exciting than the last.”

The event is free for Smithsonian Associates members and $20 for the general public. For tickets and information, the public may visit www.smithsonianassociates.org.

For 55 years Smithsonian Associates—the largest museum-based education program in the world—has produced vibrant educational and cultural programming that brings the Smithsonian to life. Inspired by the Smithsonian’s research, collections and exhibitions nearly 1,000 public programs spark creativity and excite learning in people of all ages each year.
