Correction to the Dec. 12 Washington Post Article

An article in the Friday Dec. 12 Washington Post inaccurately used the word “pilfered” when describing unaccounted for office equipment, such as laptops. The Inspector General’s report stated that items were missing [which is often accidental] as distinct from stolen [which is intentional and criminal]. The IG also reported that the Smithsonian is hiring additional staff to better control property management across the Institution.
