Day of the Dead: Candles

Three ofrendas (altars) will be on display during the weekend event; a community ofrenda, a contemporary ofrenda and a Guatemalan ofrenda honoring the ancestors, with a traditional offering at 10:30 a.m. both days, Oct. 30 and 31.

National Museum of the American Indian Marks Day of the Dead with a Two-Day Celebration

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and the National Museum of American History are co-sponsoring a celebration of the Latin American holiday Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a two-day family event Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30–31, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day at the National Museum of the American Indian.

Smithsonian Latino Center Announces Fifth Annual Day of the Dead Celebration

The Smithsonian Latino Center, in partnership with the University of Texas El Paso, presents its fifth annual Latino Virtual Museum “Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos Festival” in Second Life, a 3-D avatar-based virtual world, Oct. 30 to Nov. 2. This four-day online event features activities celebrating this popular Latin American holiday.
