From Zoo to Art: Animal Subjects by American Sculptors

Examine the animal as a subject for 19th- and 20th-century American artists in 51 sculptures and works on paper from NMAA's collection. A range of styles—naturalistic, abstract, sentimental, ideal, comic, or dramatic—are represented in the depiction of wild and domestic animals by such artists as Paul Wayland Bartlett, Bessie Stough Callender, Anna Hyatt Huntington, Edward Kemeys, Albert Laessle, Paul Manship, Heinz Warnecke, and William Zorach.
