Marvel at the largest existing diamond-in-the-rough in the world, weighing 890 carats. Irregularly shaped, the diamond—described as flawless—is yellow in color, approximately 2-1/4" by 2". On loan to NMNH from Zale Corporation, the diamond will be cut and polished by Zale following its showing at MNH.

The finished stone could weigh as much as 600 carats, which would make it the largest polished diamond in the world. When the cutting is complete, the diamond will again be loaned to MNH for display. The cutting could take up to 18 months to complete. The diamond's provenance (origin) is uncertain.
