Short's career included service as Charge d'Affairs to France under G. Washington and as personal secretary to Jefferson; the founding of Phi Beta Kappa; and also a successful financial career. On view are documents, including commissions signed by Washington, Jefferson, and Hamilton, as well as memorabilia from MAH collections and lenders including the Library of Congress, the College of William and Mary, and the White House.
