On Time
November 18, 1999 – July 9, 2006
The changing ways Americans have measured, used, and thought about time over the last 300 years is told through some 200 clocks, watches, and objects—from the use of biological rhythms and environmental clues to our current reliance on clocks and watches. The exhibition examines how and why we have come to equate time with the clock. The exhibition opened on the 116th anniversary of Standard Railway Time and the beginning of uniform national time in America.
