By the end of the 18th century, artisans and laborers were viewing and asserting themselves as a distinct segment of society. This exhibition examines the relationship between different groups as expressed in the iconography of labor. Presented are symbols adopted by organized labor to assert itself as a group and images produced by others to portray labor. On view are posters, photographs, artworks, buttons, and ribbons.
