On view is a sampling of the portraiture of influential Americans past and present recently acquired by NPG for the permanent collection. Among the likenesses depicted in prints and drawings, sculpture and paintings are those Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Igor Stravinsky, Dashiell Hammett, Jackie Robinson, Lena Horne, Marian Anderson, and Virgil Thomson.
