Recent Acquisition: Beauford Delaney: "Can Fire in the Park"

On view is a painting by the artist (1901-1979), who was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, gained recognition in Harlem during the 1930s and 1940s, and lived in Paris from 1953 until his death. The colorful yet somber painting depicts an urban scene of men in a park at night standing around a trashcan fire.
