Perspectives: Lu Chunsheng

As part of the Perspectives series of contemporary Asian art, Chinese photographer and video artist Lu Chunsheng's video History of Chemistry I is on view. In this video, a group of men wanders from somewhere beyond the seashore through a vast landscape to an abandoned steel factory. The journey through a vaguely familiar but remote world conveys the sense of dislocation that comes from modernization.
