On view are 61 drawings, including examples from all of his major series, and a rope installation, created especially for this exhibition. Although he was born Brian O'Doherty in 1920 and trained as a physician in Dublin, in 1972, in response to the violence in his native country, he adopted the name Patrick Ireland for his visual work. His drawings, sometimes compared to Irish manuscripts because of their linear intensity, range in this exhibition from his early Chess and Portrait of Marcel Duchamp series to his current Planes and Boxes.
