The exhibition takes it's name from the annotator's practice of writing "NB" or "nota bene" (Latin for "note well") in the margins of books. This exhibition features 29 annotated books from the Dibner Library's collection, spanning 443 years of printing history. The books are printed in English, Latin, French, and other languages and cover scientific and technological subjects, including mathematics, physics, astronomy, and alchemy. The works have been annotated by the author, printer, or reader in a variety of forms—errata sheets, pencil or pen corrections, and comments and drawings.
