View My Visit

On view are 210 ceramic pieces produced at Newcomb Pottery, the only major art pottery in the South and one of the major centers of the Arts and Crafts Movement in America. Affiliated with Tulane University's Newcomb College, the Pottery, designed as a model "art industry," trained young women as professional artist-craftsmen who created individual designs for the hand-decorated motifs on the pottery. Executed in the pottery's characteristic colors of cobalt blue and sage green, each design incorporated the flora and fauna of Louisiana.
