Micronesia: New Island Nations in a Vast Sea
May 4, 1987 – October 2, 1988
The exhibition celebrates the emerging independent island nations of the U.S. Trust Territory of the Pacific and their shared maritime traditions. On view are artifacts, photographs, and a videotape entitled The Precarious Balance that examine the islands' seafaring history and traditions. The exhibition marks the establishment of the Republic of Belau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
The exhibition celebrates Asian Pacific-American Heritage Week.
