On view are 131 photographs of Pavoratti and Puccini, Carusco and Callas, Scotti, and Sills, as well as the chorus and stagehands, audiences, and first-nighters. Photographers represented are Herman Mishkin, Jose Maria Mora, Napoleon Sarony, Aime Dupont, Richard Avedon, Weegee, Gjon Mili, and Paul Seligman.

Organized by the International Center for Photography and the Metropolitan Opera Association, the exhibition has traveled to Detroit, Atlanta, and Cleveland.
