Recall the major historical events and famous figures of the era as well as the lives, fads, rituals, and costumes of ordinary people through 200 vintage photographic prints from LIFE magazine's photo archives. The Korean War, 3-D movies, the McCarthy hearings, the Scrabble craze, the Berlin airlift and hotrod cars are included in the photographs as are such diverse personalities as Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Grandma Moses, Jackson Pollock, Jackie Robinson, Albert Schweitzer, and Adlai Stevenson.

Among the photojournalists represented are Margaret Bourke-White, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ralph Crane, David Douglas Duncan, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Philippe Halsman, Dmitri Kessel, Gjon Mili, Gordon Parks, and W. Eugene Smith.

Organized by Time, Inc., Doris O'Neil, curator.
