Some 25 objects from the Freer's ceramics collection examine the enduring appeal in Japan of Punch'ong ware—Korean ceramics introduced in the 16th century. Focusing on Japanese ceramics from the Momoyama (1568-1615) and Edo (1615-1868) periods that feature several Korean techniques of applying slip to dark-bodied wares, the exhibition also includes several Korean prototypes from the Yi dynasty (1392-1910).
