When pilot Jacqueline Cochran died in 1980, she held more speed, altitude, and distance records than any pilot in history. During her career in aviation, spanning 40 years, she was a racing pilot (1930s), founder and director of Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs—WWII), and the 1st woman pilot to break the sound barrier. On view are photographs, flight clothing, trophies, and film footage of several of her record-breaking achievements.

During Women's History Month, March 1985: free brochure available of NASM exhibitions featuring women.
