To commemorate the first National Hispanic Heritage Week beginning Sept 12, 1982, this exhibition features aspects of Hispanic culture in New Mexico, seat of the oldest continuous Hispanic settlement in the U.S. Among 14 objects on view are religious art and architecture pieces, domestic crafts of straw, wood, and leather used in daily life, a recent political banner from the United Farm Workers, and horse gear, such as stirrups and spurs.
Objects are identified with bilingual labels, in Spanish and English.
