Visit 46 figurative and abstract paintings, 2 objects, and 1 installation piece by West German artist Gerhard Richter (b. 1932) in his first North American retrospective. The works include monumental gestural abstractions, copies of amateur snapshots and newspaper photographs, romantic landscapes and still lifes, and paintings based on color charts. The installation piece uses 48 photographs of famous early 20th-century Europeans.
Jointly organized by the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago.
