In honor of the 250th birthday of the first U.S. president, the first major exhibition on Washington in this century features more than 650 outstanding objects relating to Washington, which are in the collection of MAH, supplemented by artifacts, documents, and art from Mount Vernon and other lenders. Included from MAH are his field tent and uniform.

The exhibition defines the 18th-century man who was the "real" George Washington and examines the many ways 19th- and 20th-century Americans have placed him on a pedestal.
