The Four Continents

On view are works in pottery, porcelain, metal, glass, ivory, and horn as well as drawings and prints—all fanciful images of the continents—selected from the James Hazen Hyde collection in the Cooper-Hewitt and other museums (the Hyde estate donated works to several museums in 1960). Many of the objects are reunited for the first time in more than 20 years for public showing. Books, coins, globes, maps, engravings, and other historical material are also included.
