On view are 23 photographs revealing FDR's association, on a personal and official level, with aircraft between 1918 and 1945. The 1st presidential candidate to use an airplane, he made heavy use of air travel throughout his presidency. He was the 1st president to be assigned a presidential plane. (Dubbed the Sacred Cow by journalists, the C-54C, equipped with an elevator for FDR's wheelchair, is in the Smithsonian Collections and is currently on loan to the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio.)
