Flexible Medium: Art Fabric from the Museum Collection
January 20, 1984 – August 18, 1985
Some 30 works demonstrate diverse approaches by American artists to the structure and surface embellishment of textiles. Included are a felt applique by Helen Frankenthaler; a hanging silk and linen cord sculpture by Sheila Hicks, and a painted fabric maquette (preliminary model) by Sam Gilliam. Artists include Ann Albers, Ed Rossbach, Katheryn Westphal, and Claire Zeisler.
