See 31 examples from the 18th century, "the Golden Age of Fans," in the first of 3 consecutive installations. Created in Europe, the works on display are decorated in diverse ways: with copies of paintings and frescoes; with imaginary Asian scenes; with Biblical subjects and classical ruins; and with motifs incorporating sequins and spangles.
