Marking the 350th anniversary of the first Swedish settlement in the U.S., this exhibition looks at the contributions of Swedish and Finnish settlers in the Delaware River Valley and their relationship with the Algonquin Indians. A short film, narrated by Swedish film star Max Von Sydow, tells the story of the colony as seen through the eyes of its first governor Johan Printz. On view are the model of the Kalmar Nyckel ("Key of Kalmar"), one of the ships that carried the first Swedes and Finns to America; dioramas depicting settlers and Indians; maps; and original artifacts.
