On view are 24 works created by contemporary craftsmen at Akhmim, a city which has flourished as a weaving center from some 4,000 years. They are the outgrowth of a program to reproduce, in embroidery, the ancient weaving designs. Today, however, the embroideries reveal a more spontaneous form, and depict legends, religious stories, and scenes of everyday life.
