A major group exhibition spotlights new directions in contemporary American art through works by younger artists from Europe and North America. The exhibit is a sequel to New Directions, shown in spring 1980.

Paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, a kaleidoscopic video installation, and on-site environmental works are among the pieces on view. The following artists are represented: Lita Albuquerque, Conrad Atkinson, William Beckman, James Byrne, Rosemarie Castoro, Vernon Fisher, Debora Hunter, Alain Kirili, Grover Mouton, Judy Pfaff, Thomas Rose, Ulrich Ruckriem, Earl Staley, Michelle Stuart, Jeff Wall, and Jerry Zeniuk.
