On view are 12 likenesses of Webster and memorabilia associated with his achievements in a small exhibit to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. (Nicknamed "Black Dan" because of his swarthy complexion, Webster gained the respect of conservatives for his "Godlike" efforts to prevent dissolution of the Union over slavery.) Among likenesses on view are those by Gilbert Stuart, G.P.A. Healy, and Hiram Powers; memorabilia on display include copies of Webster's outstanding orations and his traveling liquor chest.
