Artworks in a variety of styles and media address the human spirit’s struggle to exist and persist. Martha Jackson-Jarvis’s ceramic wall installation explores themes around life’s rites of passage—birth, death, and rebirth. Keith Morrison’s figurative art questions the lingering impact of childhood experiences. Their works join contemporary paintings by Sam Gilliam and William T. Williams. The installation offers a glimpse into the Washington, D.C. and New York City art scenes from which these artists draw inspiration.
