On view are 150 paintings, jades, lacquers, ceramics, musical instruments, and books dating from the neolithic period to the 17th century. The exhibition explores the world of the Chinese literary elite who, during the 17th century, set a model for taste that endured for centuries. Planned by the Asia Society, the exhibition of fine and decorative arts is on loan from the Shanghai Museum.
