On view are 100 color photographs—some mural-sized— of the people and landscapes of the People's Republic of China. Hiroji Kubota, a Japanese artist-photographer of international renown, made more than 30 visits to China over a 6-year period (1978-1984), photographing the grandeur of mountains, valleys, deserts, and plateaus, as well as capturing the spirit of 55 culturally diverse ethnic groups.

This traveling exhibition is organized by the International Center for Photography in New York.
