On view are 156 portraits of birds by the 19th-century painter, Andrew Jackson Grayson, considered the "Audubon of the West." From 1853 to 1869, Grayson painted these paintings of birds found on the Pacific slopes of California and Mexico. Also featured are original specimens of birds the artist collected and studied for his art.
Organized by Natural History and the Oakland Museum, California, the portraits are in the collection of the University of California at Berkeley.
