Approximately 100 of the more than 1,000 artworks originally exhibited in Chicago in 1893 at the Fine Arts Palace are exhibited by the National Museum of American Art and the National Portrait Gallery in conjunction with the Columbus Quincentenary. Included are The Gross Clinic by Thomas Eakins and Ellen Terry as Lady MacBeth by John Singer Sargent as well as works by Mary Fairchild MacMonnies, William Merritt Chase, and Winslow Homer.
