Across the Nation: Fine Art for Federal Buildings, 1972-79

On view are 97 maquettes, preliminary paintings, and drawings representing artists' conceptions of sculpture, tapestries, murals, and earthworks suitable for public buildings. Commissioned by the General Service Administration through its "Art in Architecture" program, the works were recently transferred to NMAA.
Artists include Robert Arneson, William Christenberry, Mark Di Suvero, Richard Hunt, Sol LeWitt, Alexander Liberman, Louise Nevelson, Claes Oldenburg, George Segal, Kenneth Snelson, Frank Stella, Tony Smith, and George Sugarman.
