Fragment of a mummy board. This is the mask portion, cartonnage, painted, of a mummy board, a panel inside a coffin laid on top of the wrapped mummy. Closer to an actual mask than those from coffin lids. Probably Ptolemaic period, has scarab beetle on headdress over forehead. Fingers of the hands are missing - were separate pieces of wood.
