Summary
This urine transfer assembly was intended to be part of the waste containment system of the Skylab spacecraft but was never used on a mission. Astronauts urinated through the rubberized roll-on cuff attached to the cylindrical metal intake valve. The bag was emptied of urine by connecting a hose from the spacecraft to the small black and gold connector. The system collected urine in a tank, which was routinely vented into space.
NASA transferred this urine transfer assembly to the Smithsonian in 1976.
