Description

The Nintendo Entertainment System was one of the highest selling video game consoles, released in the United States in 1985. These materials are two games for the system on one grey cartridg abd a plastic sleeve. The games are Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros., which had originally been released individually. To increase sales of the Nintendo Entertaiment, System, Nintendo sold these two games in one cartridge. Nintendo offered different packages at different prices that would included different software and accessories. This cartridge was included in the Action Set package which sold starting in 1988. Super Mario Bros. was often packaged with the system making it most popular games of all time. This led to Mario becoming a global icon recognized by children and parents alike.
The materials were donated to the Smithsonian by the Chinese Vietnamese American Richard Huynh, whose sister Annie Huynh served as a volunteer with the computer collections some years ago.
