Summary

Members of Ferdinand V. Hayden's survey party, James Stevenson (at the oars) and young Chester M. Dawes (son of Representative Henry L. Dawes of Massachusetts) are in a boat on the south side of Yellowstone Lake at the hot springs. The "Annie" was built to take soundings on Yellowstone Lake.
