"Some Enchanted Evening" was featured in the Broadway musical South Pacific, with music by Richard Rogers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and book by Hammerstein and Joshua Logan. South Pacific opened at the Majestic Theatre on April 7, 1949. The original Broadway production was a critical and commercial success, receiving a record 10 Tony Awards.
