Description (Brief)

Snowboard used by Kelly Clark at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games while winning the bronze medal in snowboard halfpipe. The board is a Burton 'Feelgood' model and is white with a black and gray swirled line pattern throughout the top of the board. The bottom has a yellow ground with "BURTON" printed in teal and dark purple across the board. The bindings are a mint green and dark purple and set at a regular stance with 21" spread. They have a padded, adjustable straps across the ankle and toe.
Kelly Clark began snowboarding in 1990 at age 7. In high school she enrolled in the prestigious Mount Snow Academy in Vermont to hone her skills on the mountain. Graduating in the spring of 2001, she immediately won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics in the snowboarding halfpipe event becoming the first American to do so. Between 2000 and 2018, Clark participated in five Olympic Games winning one gold and two bronze medals at three separate Games. Before retiring in 2019, Clark had accumulated five World Snowboard Tour wins, six U.S. Grand Prix and eight U.S Open wins, 7 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze in 18 consecutive Winter X Games. Clark’s snowboarding style is technically perfect but aggressive making her one of the most successful snowboarders of her generation. In 2010 she established the Kelly Clark Foundation which provides access to the sport of snowboarding.
The 2014 Winter Olympics, also known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad were held in Sochi, Russia with 88 countries and 2,873 athletes participating. These Games were the first Winter Olympics to be hosted by Russia with twelve new competitions added including mixed team luge, halfpipe skiing and ski and snowboard slopestyle. The Americans swept the podium in the debut of men’s slopestyle freestyle skiing. At 18, American Mikaela Shiffrin became the youngest winner in Olympic slalom, while Bode Miller became the oldest Alpine medalist winning the bronze in the supergiant slalom. Russia won the medal count at 30 with the United States running a close second with 28.
