Description
Long snapper/ center Dan Ryczek played in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins (1973-1975), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1976-1977), and Los Angeles Rams (1978-1979). Prior to his time in the NFL, he made the 1970 All-ACC team as an offensive lineman at the University of Virginia. Drafted in the thirteenth round of the 1971 draft, Ryczek did not appear on Washington’s active roster until 1973. He was selected by the Buccanners as part of the 1976 expansion draft, and in 1979 played in Super Bowl XIV as a member of the Rams. Overall, he played in 102 NFL games, starting 26.
The Washington NFL franchise stopped using the derogatory name Redskins in 2020, becoming the Washington Commanders in 2022.
