Summary
This is a model of unknown scale of the Explorer 18 satellite, launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in November 1963 to conduct magnetoshperic research. Nearly 100 Explorer satellites have been placed in orbit to perform physics, heliophysics, and astrophysics research from the late 1950s to the present.
Manufactured by the Hawk Model Company, G. Harry Stine donated the model to the Museum.
