Description
While in San Antonio, Texas, Owney received a coin commemorating the Alamo, the site of a famous battle between Mexico and Texas. The round metal coin centers an image of the Alamo between the phrase, “Remember the Alamo.” About one hundred eighty-nine men, including such famous figures in American history as Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, died defending the Alamo in March 1836. There is no available information to indicate when this tag was presented to Owney.
