Summary
Astronaut Jerry M. Linenger kept records in this notebook as he tended the Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) during his five-month stay on the Russian space station Mir in 1997. Crew members responsible for its periodic operation and maintenance recorded their activities in logbooks, noting such information as date and time of operation and type of activity. Typical tasks included turning the instrument on and off, starting/stopping data recording, changing disks and filters, positioning and calibrating the sensors, and trouble-shooting problems.
NASA transferred the SAMS equipment and this logbook to the Museum in 2000, after they were returned from Mir.
