Summary
This arm is part of the pair believed to be the original arms for the RX-2 Advanced Extra-Vehicular Suit constructed by Litton for NASA in 1964. The suit, as fitted with these arms, was the first of the RX-series of suits, and was identified as the RX-1. Due in part to the impressive tests of this suit, it was modified to become the RX-2, and these arms were replaced at that time.
The arms feature revised mobility joints resulting in increased flex-range for the wearer.
Donated to NASM by Muriel and Harry Kaplan in 2004.
